Lucius Pharmaceuticals was established in 2020 and is located at No. 26, Thongmang Village, Xaysettha District, Vientiane, the capital of Laos. The company is a legally approved pharmaceutical manufacturer by the Lao government.
Production scale: Lucius Pharmaceuticals' factory covers an area of approximately 210,000 square meters. The company now produces over 200 generic drug varieties, covering multiple therapeutic areas. As of June 2024, Lucius Pharmaceuticals has obtained marketing approvals for 54 anticancer drugs.
Product portfolio: Lucius Pharmaceuticals focuses on antineoplastic agents as its core product line, having developed generic versions of targeted therapies including sotorasib, osimertinib, cabozantinib, larotrectinib, lorlatinib, and crizotinib. In addition, the company's products also include antihypertensive drugs such as aprocitentan.
Market presence: Lucius Pharmaceuticals has expanded its business to 12 countries, including Thailand, Indonesia, Cambodia, Vietnam, the Philippines, Singapore, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, Turkey, Japan, and China, and has established extensive partnerships.
Lao Alliance Pharmaceutical Group, founded in 2017, is a comprehensive pharmaceutical company integrating R&D, production, and sales. It occupies about 80 mu (approx. 5.3 hectares) and currently employs 243 staff. The company is one of the largest pharmaceutical enterprises in Laos and one of the three OTC drug manufacturers, holding about 27% of the Lao pharmaceutical market. Currently, the group is investing RMB 1.5 billion to build a new plant, with an expected annual output value of RMB 5 billion upon completion, which is poised to become the largest pharmaceutical factory in Southeast Asia.
The National Pharmaceutical Factory No. 2 is a state-owned pharmaceutical enterprise under the direct supervision of the Lao Ministry of Health. Established in the 1970s, it is one of the most comprehensive drug producers in Laos, with over 160 products including infusions, injections, oral tablets, oral capsules, oral syrups, ointments, and more.
In addition, Laos also has other state-owned manufacturers such as the National Pharmaceutical Factory No. 3.
Apart from the above, there are several other pharmaceutical companies in Laos, including ASEAN Food and Drug (Laos) Co., Ltd., Lao-Viet Pharmaceutical Factory, KPN Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd., and Lao Element Pharmaceutical, among others.
