If a patient experiences signs of an allergic reaction such as difficulty breathing, rash, hives or blisters, swelling of the face/throat/mouth, dizziness, or lightheadedness after taking the medicine, they must seek emergency medical help immediately. The primary principle of safe medication is understanding contraindications. You must not take Baloxavir Marboxil (Xofluza) if you are allergic to its active ingredient baloxavir marboxil, or to any of the other excipients in the medicine. Additionally, as the safety and efficacy of this medicine in children under 5 years of age have not been established, it is not recommended for children under 5 years old. Pregnant or planning-to-become-pregnant women should inform their doctor, as it is unknown whether Baloxavir Marboxil (Xofluza) could harm an unborn baby. Breastfeeding women should also inform their doctor, as it is unknown whether the medicine passes into breast milk and affects the nursing infant.
Before taking Baloxavir Marboxil (Xofluza), you must fully disclose all your health conditions to your healthcare provider, including but not limited to whether you are pregnant or breastfeeding. At the same time, you need to provide a complete list of all medications you are taking, including prescription drugs, over-the-counter drugs, antacids, laxatives, vitamins, and any herbal supplements. This is because certain medicines (especially supplements containing specific minerals) may interact with Baloxavir Marboxil (Xofluza) and affect its efficacy. Another important point to note is that if you feel your symptoms are not improving, or even getting worse, or if you develop new symptoms while taking the medicine, you should inform your doctor immediately. This could indicate that you do not have influenza, or that you have developed a bacterial infection or another condition requiring a different treatment approach.
