Momelotinib Dosing and Administration

Momelotinib is an oral tablet taken once daily. It must be swallowed whole and should not be cut, crushed, or chewed. The starting dose is individually selected by the physician based on the patient's platelet count, hepatic and renal function, and concomitant medications; adjustments may be made during treatment depending on efficacy and tolerability. The tablet can be taken with or without food, as food does not affect absorption, but a fixed time each day is recommended to maintain steady‑state plasma concentrations. If intolerable side effects occur, the physician may temporarily reduce the dose or interrupt therapy, but patients must never adjust the dose on their own. During treatment, patients should strictly follow the prescription and consult a pharmacist or physician if they have any questions about administration. Additionally, the medication should be stored securely out of reach of children, and the expiry date should be checked periodically.

Management of Missed or Overdosed Momelotinib

If a daily dose of Momelotinib is forgotten, the missed dose should be skipped, and the next dose should be taken at the usual time the following day. Do not take a double dose on the same day to compensate, as this increases the risk of adverse reactions. If a patient accidentally takes more than the prescribed amount, they should immediately contact their physician or go to the nearest emergency room, bringing the medication bottle so that healthcare providers can be informed of the details. Overdose may exacerbate thrombocytopenia, hepatic impairment, or infection risk, so it should not be taken lightly. Before seeking medical attention, the patient should remain calm and avoid driving or operating machinery. To reduce the likelihood of missed doses, the use of a daily pill organizer or a mobile phone alarm is recommended. Moreover, do not alter the overall treatment schedule due to a missed dose; all adjustments must be made under medical supervision.

Storage Conditions and Precautions for Momelotinib

Momelotinib should be stored at room temperature (20°C to 25°C, i.e., 68°F to 77°F) and always kept in the original bottle to protect from light and moisture. The bottle contains a desiccant packet to absorb humidity and maintain tablet stability; this packet should never be discarded. After each use, the cap should be tightly closed to prevent air and moisture from entering. The medication must be kept out of reach of children to avoid accidental ingestion. Also, do not transfer the drug to other containers (e.g., pill organizers) for long‑term storage, as different materials may compromise moisture protection. If the tablets appear discolored, cracked, or have an unusual odor, discontinue use and consult a pharmacist. Unused or expired medication should be disposed of safely in accordance with local regulations or pharmacy guidance, and should not be thrown into regular trash or flushed down the drain.
