Lorlatinib is indicated for the treatment of patients with metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) harboring specific types of anaplastic lymphoma kinase (ALK) gene abnormalities whose disease has spread. Prior to the administration of this medicine, your doctor will conduct a test to detect the ALK gene.

Take this medicine strictly in accordance with your doctor’s instructions. Do not take a larger dose, do not take it more frequently, and do not take it for a longer duration than prescribed by your doctor. Otherwise, the risk of side effects may increase.

This medicine may be taken with or without food.

Swallow the tablets whole. Do not chew, crush, or split the tablets.

Precautions for Lorlatinib

It is crucial that your doctor monitors your condition regularly to ensure the medicine is working effectively. Blood tests may be required to monitor for adverse reactions.

Use of this medicine during pregnancy may cause harm to the fetus. Birth defects may also occur if the father uses this medicine while his sexual partner is pregnant. If you are a woman of childbearing potential, your doctor may perform a test before you start treatment to confirm that you are not pregnant. Oral contraceptives may not be effective in preventing pregnancy when used concomitantly with this medicine. Please use an additional form of contraception (e.g., condoms, spermicides) while taking oral contraceptives. Female patients should use effective contraception during treatment and for at least 6 months after the last dose. Male patients with female partners should use effective contraception during treatment and for at least 3 months after the last dose. If you suspect that you have become pregnant while taking this medicine, inform your doctor immediately.

If you plan to have children, discuss this with your doctor before starting treatment with this medicine. Some male users of this medicine have experienced infertility (inability to father children).
