Epilepsy

1. Drug selection and use

The choice of epilepsy medication should be made under the guidance of a medical professional, and the appropriate antiepileptic drug is usually selected according to the type of seizure.

The drug should be gradually increased in small doses, and maintenance therapy should be followed when the desired effect is achieved. If it is difficult to use one drug alone or patients with mixed epilepsy, it is often necessary to combine drugs, but no more than 3 drugs should be combined.

2. Principles of medication

Stick to long-term, regular medication and avoid stopping the medication or changing the dosage of the medication to avoid inducing re-seizures of epilepsy.

During the period of medication, regular examinations, such as liver and kidney function, blood routine, etc., should be carried out regularly to monitor the possible side effects caused by the drug.

3. Precautions

Patients should avoid medications that may trigger seizures, such as quinolones, glucocorticoids, etc.

While taking anti-epileptic drugs, patients should pay attention to maintaining good living habits, such as a reasonable diet, adequate sleep, and avoiding overwork, so as to enhance the body's resistance and reduce the possibility of seizures.
